Basketball

Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, typically consisting of five players each, compete to score points by throwing a ball through the opposing team’s hoop, which is elevated 10 feet above the floor. The game is played on a rectangular court, with a hoop at each end. Points are scored by shooting the ball into the opponent’s hoop from various distances, with different scores assigned for shots made from beyond the three-point line and for regular field goals. Basketball combines physical agility, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and strategy. The sport is governed by specific rules pertaining to ball handling, traveling, fouls, and violations. It originated in the late 19th century and has grown to become one of the most popular sports worldwide, both in terms of participation and viewership.
